Pune: CII Pune organized an insightful industry session focused on emerging opportunities in India’s Mining and Construction Equipment (MCE) sector. Held at the Hyatt Regency, the event acted as a curtain-raiser for the upcoming Annual Summit by the CII Mining and Construction Equipment Division (MCED), scheduled for May 19, 2025, in New Delhi.

Prominent industry leaders, including Vivek Bhatia (Managing Director & CEO, TKIL Industries), Manojit Haldar (Managing Director & President, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology India Pvt. Ltd), Asoktaru Chattopadhyay (President & Country Head, Sandvik SRP), Harpreet Wahan (Business Head – India & ASEAN Region, Enovation Controls), John Kuruvilla (Regional Director, CII Eastern Region), and Zoha Khurshid (Deputy Director, CII), participated in the deliberations.

With India’s manufacturing sector currently contributing 16% to the national GDP, the Government of India aims to scale this figure to 25% in the coming years. The Mining and Construction Equipment sector is seen as a key enabler in realizing this ambition.

CII’s Mining and Construction Equipment Division is driving a strategic roadmap to accelerate sectoral growth. This includes fostering a conducive regulatory environment, boosting exports, minimizing import dependency through domestic capacity building, advancing tech integration, and embedding sustainability as a core operational pillar.
